Autauga County 2004 EQIP Program

Executive Summary

The USDA EQIP program sign-up for 2004 is open and applications are being taken on a continuous basis. Applications to be considered in the first funding period must be on file in the office by April 17th. The USDA-EQIP program is to treat resource problems within Autauga County. This includes cropland, pastureland, woodland and environmentally sensitive areas and habitat sites impacted from food and fiber production.

Applications will be taken at the following Autauga County locations by NRCS and FSA:

Autaugaville Ag-Center
2226 Hwy 14 West, Suite A & Suite C
Autaugaville, AL 36003
Hours: 7:30 A.M. – 4 P.M.
334-365-5124, Extension 101

Practices or applications that appear to be production in nature will be of least concern. All applications will be ranked and approved on an environmental ranking worksheet that will ensure the most resource and environmental benefits are obtained for the cost-share dollar.

Please refer to the state list for practices, cost-share rates, and restrictions. For Limited Resource Producers (LRP) cost share rates may be up to 90 percent for those who qualify. Where applicants’ ranking ties for points, the Autauga County watershed assessment priority ranking will be used to break the tie.

NRCS and the Autauga County Soil and Water Conservation District Ranked Resource Concerns

  1. Water Quality/Animal Waste - 250

  2. Grazing Lands - 100

  3. Erosion on Cropland/Soil Quality - 50

  4. Water Conservation - 25

  5. At Risk Species - 10

Farm numbers and tract numbers will be assigned by the FSA office. Any application received after the first evaluation period will be considered for funding every 30 days or, as funds become available. Your practices can not begin until you have been approved; otherwise you will become ineligible.

Applications may also be taken on-line at: http://www.sc.egov.usda.gov. Additional information is available at: http://www.nrcs.usda.gov/programs/eqip/.
