| | Choctaw County 2004 EQIP Program
Executive Summary
The local EQIP program signup for 2004 is now open. EQIP is a voluntary
program that provides assistance to farmers and producers who face threats to
soil, water, air, and other related natural resources on their land. Eligible
land includes cropland, pastureland, private non-industrial timberland, and
other farm lands. If you have a resource concern or problem on your land that
you need assistance to solve, and are interested in the EQIP program, please
come by the USDA Service Center located at 210 North Shiloh Street, Linden,
Alabama, or the Choctaw County Soil and Water Conservation District at 117 S.
Mulberry Avenue, Butler, Alabama and fill out an application, or contact us at
(334) 295-8724 extension 3 or (205) 459-2496. The deadline for consideration and
ranking of applications will be April 16, 2004. Unfunded applications will be
kept on hand and will be considered for funding at a later date, if additional
funds become available.
All applications will be ranked and approved based on a state-wide ranking
worksheet. Individuals with the highest point totals generated from this
worksheet will be ranked higher in consideration to receive cost-share
assistance than those with lower point totals.
EQIP funds will be used to address local resource concerns in Choctaw County.
The local workgroup has prioritized the local resource concerns in the following
order:
- Grazing Lands
- Soil Erosion/Soil Quality
- Water Quality/Animal Waste
- At Risk Species/Declining Habitats
- Water Conservation
Please refer to the state list for practices, cost-share rates, and
restrictions.
Applications may also be taken on-line at: http://www.sc.egov.usda.gov. Additional
