Cleburn County 2004 EQIP Program


Executive Summary

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) of USDA in Calhoun County, Alabama, will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for FY 2004. This signup will be held on a continuous basis. Any eligible landuser who has a resource concern or problem on pastureland, cropland, or hayland may apply for assistance through this program. Applications may be made at the NRCS or FSA office of the Calhoun County USDA Service Center located at 1413B Hillyer-Robinson Pkwy Anniston, Alabama 36207, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The telephone number is (256) 835-1512 ext 3. The USDA work group has prioritized the resource concerns in Calhoun County as:

  1. Animals/Grazing Systems
  2. Soil Quality/Erosion on Cropland
  3. Water Quality/Animal Waste
  4. At Risk Species Habitat
  5. Water Conservation

Incentive Payments for Residue Management will be limited to 40 acres per operator/person.

All applications will be ranked using the Statewide EQIP Worksheet. Approvals will be given to those applications that will provide the greatest environmental benefits, i.e. those receiving the most environmental points. Contracts will be developed for approved applications in order of descending environmental points, until all funds are obligated.

Applications will be "batched" on April 15, 2004, and ranked. Any applications filed later than this date will be considered in the next pool of funding (if additional funds become available).
