Geneva County 2004 EQIP Program
Executive Summary
The Natural Resources Conservation Service of USDA in Geneva County, Alabama,
will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for
the 2004 Fiscal Year. This signup will be held on a continuous basis. Any
eligible landuser who has a resource concern or problem on pastureland,
cropland, or hayland may apply for assistance through this program.
Applications may be made at the NRCS office of the Geneva County USDA Service
Center located at the NRCS Office at 103 N. Lincoln St., Geneva, AL 36340,
Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The telephone number is

The USDA Work Group has identified the resource concerns in Geneva County as:
- Grazing Lands (priority 1)
- Soil Erosion/Quality (priority 1)
- Water Quality (priority 3)
Incentive payments for the following practices will be limited to 40 acres
per person:
- 328 Conservation Crop Rotation – Grass Based Rotation,
- 328A – Conservation Crop Rotation (+hi residue row crop to low residue
System) and
- 329 – Residue Management-all.
Applications will be evaluated and ranked by tract.
All applications will be ranked using the Statewide EQIP Ranking Form and
approvals will be given to those applications that will provide the greatest
environmental benefits, i.e. those receiving the most environmental points.
Contracts will be developed for approved applications in order of descending
environmental points until all funds are obligated. Applications will be
"batched" and ranked after cut-off date of April 15, 2004. Any
applications filed later than this date will be considered in the next pool of
funding (if additional funds become available).
