Hale County 2004 EQIP Program

Executive Summary

Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) is designed to provide technical and financial assistance to correct or improve resource concerns or problems on pastureland, cropland, or hay land. The local EQIP has a continuous signup period. The first batching period for ranking and prioritizing applications will end on April 16, 2004. If all monies are not obligated with the first ranking then a second ranking will be held 30 days after the first ranking. If you file an application later than the deadline for the first funding pool consideration, your application will be considered in the next pool of funding if additional funding is available at a later date.

You may file the EQIP application for Hale County in Greensboro at the Natural Resources Conservation Service Office between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office is located at 200 First Street Greensboro, AL, in the USDA Service Center. The NRCS office telephone number is 334-624-3265 extension 101. You may also summit and EQIP application at the Farm Service Agency located in the USDA Service Center 200 First Street Greensboro, Alabama.

The state list of eligible practices and cost-share percentages will be used in Hale County.

The local concerns that have been prioritized are:

  1. Grazing land Systems

  2. Soil Quality/Erosion

  3. Water Conservation (irrigation)

  4. At risk habitat

  5. Water Quality/Animal Waste

All applications will be ranked and approvals based on an environmental ranking worksheet that will insure that the most environmental benefit is received for the dollars expended. Individuals with the highest point totals generated from this worksheet will be ranked higher in consideration to receive cost-share assistance than those individuals with lower points. In the event that a tie occurs on ranking the application that was submitted with and earlier date will be ranked higher.
