Randolph County 2004 EQIP
Program
Executive Summary
The Natural Resources Conservation Service of USDA in Randolph County,
Alabama, will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program
(EQIP) for the 2004 Fiscal Year. This signup will be held on a continuous basis.
Any eligible landuser who has a resource concern or problem on pastureland,
cropland, or hayland may apply for assistance through this program. Applications
may be made at the NRCS or FSA office of the Randolph/Randolph County USDA
Service Center located at 794 West Broad Street, Suite 3, Wedowee, Alabama. The
office hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The telephone

The USDA Work Group has identified the resource concerns in Randolph County
as:
- Grazing Lands (Priority 1)
- Water Quality/Animal Waste (Priority 2)
- At Risk Species Habitat (Priority 2)
All applications will be ranked using the EQIP Ranking Tool, and approvals
will be given to those applications that will provide the greatest environmental
benefits, i.e. those receiving the most environmental points. Contracts will be
developed for approved applications in order of descending environmental points
until all funds are obligated. Applications will be "batched" and
ranked after April 16th for the three statewide special projects: Poultry Litter
Distribution, Ground and Surface Water Conservation and Invasive Plant Species
Management. The deadline for the “Regular” EQIP program in Randolph and
Randolph Counties will be April 30th. Any applications filed later than these
dates will be considered in the next pool of funding (if additional funds become
available). The total amount of EQIP funds for Randolph County thus far is
$138,820.
Approved practices in Randolph County are the same as those adopted
Statewide. Restrictions and Cost-share rates are the same as those adopted
Statewide, with the exception of poultry composters, drystacks and incinerators
being limited to 50 percent cost-share.
