The overall objectives of the USDA-EQIP program is aimed at treating resource problems within Wilcox County to improve conservation and sustain the resource base. This includes cropland, pastureland, forestland, and environmentally sensitive areas and habitat sites impacted for food and fiber production.

The county concerns that have been prioritized are:

1. Grazing Lands
2. Water Quality/Animal Waste
3. Erosion/Soil Quality
4. At Risk Species Habitat
5. Water Conservation

Please refer to the state list for practices, cost-share rates, and restrictions. Limited resource producers will be cost-shared at 90 percent. All applications will be ranked and approvals based on an environmental ranking worksheet that will insure that the most environmental benefit is received for the dollars expended. Individuals with the highest point totals generated from this worksheet will be ranked higher in consideration to receive cost-share assistance than those individuals with lower points.
