Cleburne County 2006 EQIP Program

Executive Summary

The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Cleburne County, Alabama, will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for FY 2006. This signup will be held on a continuous basis. Any eligible landuser who has a resource concern or problem on pastureland, cropland, or hayland may apply for assistance through this program.

Applications may be made at the NRCS of the Calhoun County USDA Service Center located at 1413B Hillyer-Robinson Pkwy Anniston, Alabama 36207, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The telephone number is 256-835-0512, extension 3. Fax number is 256-835-7824.

The USDA work group has prioritized the resource concerns in Cleburne County as:

1. Animals/Grazing Systems
2. Forest Health and Wildlife
3. Soil Quality/Erosion on Cropland
4. Water Quality/Animal Waste
5. Water Conservation

Incentive payments for residue management is limited to 40 acres per operator/person
All applications will be ranked using the State-wide Ranking Worksheet. Approvals will be given to those applications that will provide the greatest environmental benefits, i.e. those receiving the most environmental points. Contracts will be developed for approved applications in order of descending environmental points, until all funds are obligated.

Applications will be batched on January 6, 2006, and ranked. Any applications filed later than this date will be considered in the next pool of funding (if additional funds become available).
