Crenshaw County 2006 EQIP Program

Executive Summary

The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Crenshaw County, Alabama, will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for the 2006 fiscal year. This signup will be held on a continuous basis. Any eligible land user who has a resource concern or problem on pastureland, cropland, or hayland may apply for assistance through this program.

Applications may be made at the NRCS office of the Crenshaw County USDA Service Center located at 1682 South Forest Avenue on Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The telephone number is 334-335-3613, extension 3. The fax number is 334-335-2108.

The USDA Work Group in Crenshaw County has identified the following resource concerns are in order of priority:

  1. Water Quality/Animal Waste

  2. Grazing Lands

  3. Soil Erosion

  4. Forest Health and Wildlife

All applications will be ranked using the Statewide Ranking Tool. Approvals will be given to those applications that will provide the greatest environmental benefits, i.e. those receiving the most environmental points. Contracts will be developed for approved applications in order of descending environmental points until all funds are obligated. Applications will be batched and ranked. The first batching period for ranking and prioritizing applications will be January 6, 2006. Other batching dates will be announced as needed. Eligible county practices are listed below. Cost-Share Rate

  1. Cost-share rates for eligible practices will vary from 50 percent to 75 percent as shown on the Alabama State Practice list.

  2. Limited resource producers may be eligible for up to 90 percent cost-share.
