| Madison County 2006 EQIP ProgramExecutive SummaryThe USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service in Madison County, Alabama, will hold a signup batching period ending January 6, 2006, for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). Signup is on a continuous basis; however, applications will be ranked at the end of established batching periods. If needed, additional batching periods will be established. Any eligible landuser who has a resource concern or problem on cropland or grazing land may apply for assistance through this program. Applications may be made at the NRCS office of the Madison County USDA Service Center located at 819 Cook Avenue, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The telephone number is 256-532-1692, extension 3. All applications will be ranked using a web-based system. Applications that provide the most environmental benefits will score the highest points. In case of a tie between two or more applicants the contract needing the least amount of cost-share dollars will prevail. Contracts will be developed within each resource concern in order of descending points, until all the funds are obligated. The NRCS State Practices and Cost-share rates were approved by the Madison County USDA work group. Conservation practices that address the resource concerns will come from this list.
