| Marshall County 2006 EQIP ProgramExecutive SummaryThe USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service of USDA in Marshall County, Alabama, will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for the 2006 Fiscal year. This signup will be held on a continuous basis. Any eligible landuser who has a resource concern or problem on pastureland, cropland, or hayland may apply for assistance through this program. Applications may be made at the NRCS office of the Marshall County USDA Service Center located at 1206 Gunter Avenue, Guntersville, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The telephone number is 256-582-3923 and the fax number is 256-582-1328. The local contact person is Stan Franklin, District Conservationist. The USDA work group has prioritized the resource concerns in Marshall County as: 1. Grazing Lands All applications will be ranked using an environmental benefits worksheet and approvals will be given to those applications that will provide the greatest environmental benefits, i.e. those receiving the most environmental points. If ranking points prove to be equal on one or more applications, there will be a drawing at a SWCD meeting as a tie breaker. Contracts will be developed for approved applications in order of descending environmental points, until all funds are obligated. The first batching period for ranking and prioritizing applications will end January 6, 2006. Any applications filed later than this date will be considered in the next pool of funding, if additional funds become available. A list of approved conservation practices has been developed and are available below. Planned conservation practices used to address the priority resource concerns will come from this list.
