Executive Summary

The USDA-Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) in Montgomery County, Alabama, will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for 2006. This signup will be held on a continuous basis.

Any eligible landuser who has a resource concern or problem on pastureland, cropland, or hayland may apply for assistance through this program. Applications may be made at the NRCS office of the Montgomery County USDA Service Center located at 2000 Interstate Park Drive, Suite 101, Montgomery, Alabama 36109, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00p.m. The telephone number is 334-223-7257 and the fax number is 334-223-7458.

The USDA work group has prioritized the resource concerns in Montgomery County as:

1. Grazing Land
2. Erosion/Soil Quality and Water Quality/Animal Waste
3. Forestry and Wildlife

All applications will be ranked using an environmental benefits worksheet (ranking form below) and approvals will be given to those applications that will provide the greatest environmental benefits, i.e. those receiving the most environmental points. Contracts will be developed for approved applications in order of descending environmental points, until all funds are obligated. Applications will be batched and ranked after January 6, 2005. Any applications filed later than this date will be considered in the next pool of funding (if additional funds become available).

Eligible county practice and county ranking form are available below. See the NRCS state practice list for cost-share rates and restrictions for the selected county practices.
