| Wilcox County 2006 EQIP ProgramExecutive SummaryThe USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Wilcox County, Alabama, will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) for the 2006 fiscal year. The signup will be held on a continuous basis. The first evaluation period for ranking and prioritizing applications will be
January 6, 2006. Additional batching periods will be set as needed, until all
monies are obligated. The overall objectives of the EQIP program is aimed at treating resource problems within Wilcox County to improve conservation and sustain the resources base. This includes cropland, pastureland, forestland, and environmentally sensitive areas and habitat sites impacted for food and fiber production. The county concerns that have been prioritized are:
Please refer to the NRCS state list for practices, cost-share rates, and restrictions. Limited resource producers will be cost–shared at 90 percent. Forest Stand Improvement will be limited to a maximum of 150 acres. All applications will be ranked and approved based on a state-wide environmental ranking worksheet that will insure that the most environmental benefit is received for the dollars expended. Individuals with the highest point totals generated from this worksheet will be ranked higher in consideration to receive cost-share assistance than those individuals with lower points. In the case of a tie, the application with the lowest cost for the benefits obtained will be considered for cost-share assistance. Additional information is available at:
