If you have a resource concern or problem on pastureland, cropland, forestland, or hayland on your farm that you need assistance in solving, visit the local NRCS office and fill out an application.

You can file an application at the NRCS office in Jackson, Alabama, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. This office is located at 3100 HWY 43, Suite B. The phone number is 251-246-0245, extension 3.

The first evaluation period for ranking and prioritizing applications will end November 17, 2006. If all monies are not obligated during the first batching period, additional batching periods will be set as needed until all funds are exhausted. Your practices cannot begin until you have been notified of approval.

Resource concerns in Clarke County were ranked as follows:

  1. Grazing Lands
  2.  Forest Health and Wildlife
  3.  Soil Quality
  4.  Water Quality

There will be a 50 acre limit per applicant for forest site prep and tree planting practices.

Please refer to the Alabama NRCS state list for practices, restrictions and cost-share rates. All applications will be ranked and approvals based on a state-wide ranking worksheet. These applications will be prioritized based on local concerns.

Those applications with the highest points will be funded first. In the case of a tie in points, priority will be given to the application with the lowest cost. Special consideration will be given to Beginning Farmers and Limited Resource Farmers.
