Cullman County 2007 EQIP Program

Executive Summary

The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Cullman County, Alabama, will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for the 2007 Fiscal Year. This signup will be held on a continuous basis. Any eligible landuser who has a resource concern or problem on pastureland, cropland, or hayland may apply for assistance through this program.

Applications may be made at the Cullman County USDA Service Center located at 205 4th Ave. NE, Cullman, Alabama 35055, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The telephone number is 256-734-6471, extension 3, and the fax number is 256-734-1431. Contact the District Conservationist.

The USDA work group has prioritized the resource concerns in Cullman County as:

  1. Water Quality (Animal Waste)
  2. Grazing Lands
  3. Forest Health and Wildlife
  4. Erosion/Soil Quality

The NRCS State Practices and Restrictions and Cost-Share Rates will be used for planned conservation practices to address the priority resource concerns.

All applications will be ranked using the national NRCS Ranking Tool and approvals will be given to those applications that will provide the greatest environmental benefits, i.e. those receiving the most environmental points.

In case two or more applications receive an equal number of environmental points, the applications that have received no prior cost-share assistance will be approved first. If the environmental points are still equal, the earliest chronological date that the applications were filed will be approved first.

Contracts will be developed for approved applications in order of descending environmental points, until all funds are obligated. Applications first batching period for ranking and application prioritization will be November 17, 2006. Additional batching periods will be held if subsequent allocations are received.
