Dale County 2007 EQIP Program

Executive Summary

The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Dale County, Alabama, will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for the 2007 fiscal year. This signup will be held on a continuous basis.

Any eligible landuser who has a resource concern or problem on pastureland, cropland, hayland or forestland may apply for assistance through this program.

Applications may be made at the NRCS office of the Dale County USDA Service Center located at the Dale County Government Building, 202 S. Hwy 123, Suite E, Ozark, Alabama 36360, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The telephone number is 334-774-4749, extension 3. Fax number is 334-774-9951.

The USDA Work Group has identified the resource concerns in Dale County as:

  • Erosion/Soil Quality (high priority)

  • Forest Health and Wildlife (medium priority)

  • Grazingland/Animal Waste (low priority)

County-wide applications taken by November 17, 2006, will be ranked and funded using the NRCS Statewide Ranking Tool and approvals will be given to those applications that will provide the greatest environmental benefits, i.e. those receiving the most environmental points. All applications will be funded according to priority concern. All applications that address erosion/soil quality concerns will be funded before any other applications are considered. Contracts will be developed for approved applications in order of descending environmental points until all funds are obligated. Applications received after November 17, will be deferred until the next subsequent batching period as needed.

Practice restrictions and cost-share rates are the same as those on the Alabama NRCS state-wide list. Conservation practices used to address the priority concerns will come from the following practice list:
