Geneva County 2007 EQIP
Program
Executive Summary
The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Geneva County,
Alabama, will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program
(EQIP) for the 2007 Fiscal Year. This signup will be held on a continuous basis.
Any eligible landuser who has a resource concern or problem on pastureland,
cropland, hayland or forestland may apply for assistance through this program.
Applications may be made at the NRCS office of the Geneva County USDA Service
Center located at 1706 West Magnolia Ave, Geneva, Alabama 36340, Monday through
Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The telephone number is 334-684-2235,

The USDA Work Group has identified the resource concerns in Geneva County (in
priority order) as:
- Soil Quality/Erosion Control
- Grazing Lands
- Water Quality/Animal Waste
- Forest Health and Wildlife
Payments for the following practices will be limited to 50 acres per person:

Payments for fencing (practice code 382) will be
limited to 10,000 feet per person. (Additional footage can be used to complete
paddocks, if needed.)
Applications will be evaluated and ranked by tract. All applications will be
ranked using the 2007 EQIP Ranking Form and approvals will be given to those
applications that will provide the greatest environmental benefits, i.e., those
receiving the most environmental points. Contracts will be developed for
approved applications in order of descending environmental points until all
funds are obligated.
Applications will be batched and ranked after cut-off date of November 17,
2006. Any applications filed later than this date will be considered in the next
pool of funding, if additional funds become available.
Cost-share rates will be the same as listed in the Alabama NRCS state approved
list. The Geneva County practice list is below.
