Henry County 2007 EQIP Program

Executive Summary

The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Henry County, Alabama, will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for the 2007 Fiscal Year. This signup will be held on a continuous basis.

Any eligible landuser who has a resource concern relating to Soil Quality/Erosion, Grazing Lands, or Forest Health & Wildlife may apply for assistance through this program.

Applications may be made at the NRCS Abbeville Field Offices located at the USDA Service Center at 810-B Columbia Road, Abbeville, Alabama 36310. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The telephone number for NRCS is 334-585-3174, extension 3 and the fax number is 334-585-6361.

The Local Work Group has identified the resource concerns for Henry County in order of priority as:

1. Erosion/Soil Quality (SQ)
2. Grazing Lands (GL)
3. Forest Health and Wildlife (FW)

All applications will be ranked using the Alabama NRCS Statewide EQIP Ranking Form and approvals will be given to those applications that will provide the greatest environmental benefits, i.e. those receiving the most environmental points. In the event of a tie score, the application with the earliest submittal date will have priority. Contracts will be developed for approved applications in order of descending environmental points until all funds are obligated. The first batching period for ranking and prioritizing applications in Henry County will be November 17, 2006; subsequent batching dates will be announced as needed.
