| Madison County 2007 EQIP ProgramExecutive SummaryThe USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service in Madison County, Alabama, will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for the 2007 Fiscal Year. Signup is on a continuous basis; however, applications will be ranked at the end of established batching periods. The first batching and ranking period ends November 17, 2006. If needed, additional batching periods will be established. Any eligible land user who has a resource concern or problem on cropland, grazing land and forestland may apply for assistance through this program. Applications may be made at the NRCS office of the Madison County USDA Service Center located at 819 Cook Avenue, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The telephone number is 256-532-1692, extension 3. All applications will be ranked using a web-based system. Applications that provide the most environmental benefits will score the highest points. In case of a tie between two or more applicants the contract needing the greatest amount of cost-share dollars will prevail. Contracts will be developed based on points earned in descending order until all funds are obligated. Unfunded applications still on hand September 30, 2007, will be cancelled. Practices and Cost-share rates were approved by the Madison County USDA work group from the NRCS State approved list that support the above resource concerns with the following exceptions: practices pertaining to Erosion on cropland 328, 340, 378, and 329A will not be funded. Practices pertaining to Water Quality will not be funded. Practice 612 will be limited to 100ac. Practice 614 will be limited to freeze proof troughs with the exception of spring developments.
