| Bullock County 2008 EQIP ProgramExecutive SummaryThe USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Bullock County, Alabama, will hold a sign-up for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for the 2008 Fiscal Year. This sign-up will be held on a continuous basis. Any eligible landuser who has a resource concern or problem on pastureland, cropland, hayland, or forestland, may apply for assistance through this program. Applications may be made at the NRCS office located in the Macon County or Pike County USDA Service Centers, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The Macon County Service Center is located at 106 Torrence Road, Tuskegee, Alabama. The Pike County Service Center is located at 22 Henderson Highway in Troy, Alabama. Applications may also be made at the Bullock County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) office by appointment located at the Bullock County Commission Building, Union Springs, Alabama. Special arrangements for taking applications on the farm can be made by making an appointment with the District Conservationist. All applications will be ranked using the state-wide environmental benefits worksheet. Approvals will be given to those applications that will provide the greatest environmental benefits, i.e. those receiving the most environmental points. Practices providing the greatest economical and environmental benefits will be emphasized. Contracts will be developed for approved applications in order of descending environmental points, until all funds are obligated. Applications will be "batched" and ranked. The first batching period for ranking and prioritizing applications will be October 26, 2007 and additional applications filed later than this date will be considered in the next pool of funding (if additional funds become available). All conservation practices and cost-share rates will be the same as in the Alabama NRCS state approved EQIP Practice and Payment Schedule Limited resource farmers will be paid at an increased payment rate.
