Alabama Artist Chosen for American Indian Heritage Month Poster - 2006

American Indian Heritage Month Poster-Click for larger imageNRCS celebrates American Indian Heritage Month in November.  A poster is designed and distributed by as part of the American Indian Heritage month celebration.  A painting by an American Indian Tribe artist is chosen each year to be featured on the poster.

In 2006, Alabama was chosen to design and produce the poster. Lori Sawyer, a member of the federally-recognized Poarch Band of Creek Indians, won the art contest and her painting is featured on the poster. 

The painting is entitled “Gifts of Mother Earth” and features American Indian children playing in Magnolia Branch near Atmore, Alabama.  Additional information about the painting and the artist.
