Disability Awareness Month 2007

07 Disability Awareness Month PosterOctober is National Disability Awareness Month. In recognition of National Disability Awareness Month the 2007 Disability Awareness Poster was selected.

The 2007 winning poster was submitted by Daniel Meyer, a Soil Conservationist from Bakersfield, California. The theme for the 2007 poster is, "Workers with Disabilities: Talent for a Winning Team". Daniel's poster is titled, What Can Americans With Disabilities Do?

The Disability Emphasis Program goals are to:

  • Promote understanding and appreciation of individuals with disabilities.
  • Promote understanding of the requirements of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
  • Provide reasonable accommodations and accessibilities.
  • Encourage managers to provide career enhancement and promotions for people with disabilities.
