Minutes from Alabama Civil Rights Advisory Committee Meeting

Clanton, Alabama
January 12, 2005

The Civil Rights Advisory Committee held a meeting on January 12, 2005, at 10 a.m. in Clanton, Alabama. 

Members present:  Terry Williamson, Chair; Joyce Nicolas, Vice-Chair; David Elliott, AIAN SEPM;  Fay Garner, DEPM; Johnny Trayvick, BSEPM; Linda McGraw, FWPM;  Andrew Williams, Outreach Advisor; Travis Burns, Member;  Jason Gardner, Member; Tim Williams, Member; Tanga Skinner, Member; and Thomas McDaniel, Member.

Members not present:  Carolyn King, HEPM; Clark Painter; A/PI SEPM; and Sarah Walker, Member.

Old Business

Thomas McDaniel, DC from Shelby County was welcomed as the newest member of the Advisory Committee.

New Business

  • Update to the website with new member information.
  • Plan of Work was discussed with accomplished items noted.
  • Training for new members and Special Emphasis Program Managers was discussed.
  • Members to roll off the committee this year are Tanga Skinner, Tim Williams, and Sarah Walker.  Each of these members is to recommend three persons who could replace them. 
  • Special Emphasis Program Managers to roll off this time are Clark Painter and Fay Garner.
  • Display available for Career Days.    
  • Awards Committee Update
  • Cultural Diversity Event Update (This event has been cancelled due to budget constraints.)
  • Pay Rate for the Engineers of the state.
  • Meeting that will be held on the Poarch Indian Reservation will be rescheduled in late April or first of May.  
  • David Elliott has been selected to serve as Second Vice-Chair for the American Indian/Alaskan Native Association.    
  • The committee was asked to look into the grade scale for the technicians. 
  • Discussed the replacement of State Office Advisor position. 

Next meeting was scheduled for April 13, 2005, at the Opelika Field Office.
