Minutes from Alabama Civil Rights Advisory Committee Meeting

Lee County Field Office, Opelika, Alabama
April 13, 2005

Members present: Terry Williamson, Chair; Joyce Nicholas, Vice-Chair; Fay Garner, DSEPM; Johnny Trayvick, BSEPM; Linda McGraw, FWPM; Carolyn King, HSEPM; Clark Painter, APAPM; Travis Burns, Member; Jason Gardner, Member, Sarah Walker, Member; Thomas McDaniel, Member; and Tanga Skinner, Member. Also attending was Bob Jones, State Conservationist; and Paul Swenson, Advisor.

Members not present: David Elliott, AI/ANPM; Tim Williams, Member; and Andrew Williams, Outreach Advisor.

Old Business

At the last meeting an individual opened a discussion on the alleged discrepancies of the Engineers Pay Scale. The committee requested and received an official Civil Rights Suggestion/Concern form from the individual and the Committee Chairman will send the form through channels.

New Business

  • New Members – list of prospective members were submitted to the STC to choose representatives from the East and North Teams and State Office.  Two SEPM positions will be chosen by STC.
  • Plan of Work Updated – FY2005
  • Review of accomplishments
  • Awards Committee Update
    • It was suggested that this information be held and reviewed at a later time. If any new ideas come forth please hold until this subject comes before the committee again. 
  • Updates of Alabama Civil Rights web page discussed – Q and A’s to be added to web
  • Civil Rights Review Checklist and Mock Field Office Civil Rights Compliance Review -  Committee voted to add the National Civil Rights Compliance Review Guide to the Alabama web so new DCs and others needing guidance on the review process can access it quickly.
  • Reports/Updates from SEPM’s

Next Meeting - Alabama Power Building or Clanton Field Office, Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at 10:00 a.m.
