Alabama Certified Burn Manager 2008 Training

Certified burn manager certification courses and re-certification workshops will be held across the state in FY 2008. 

Alabama Certified Burn Manager Certification Courses

All courses are 4 day - 30 contact hours. All courses begin at 8 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. daily. On the first day students should arrive by 7:30 a.m. to check in.

Students must pre-register for courses (except the April 16-17 session) by sending a $50 registration fee to Alabama Certified Burn Manager Certification Course (check made payable to AL CBM Course), c/o Kent Hanby, 431 Dogwood Trail, Dadeville, AL 36853. Registration for the April 16-17 course will be handled by the Alabama Wildland Fire Academy.

Required pre-study: All students are expected to review the material at www.pfmt.org/fire in the history, science, and behavior sections. There will be a pre-study test on the first day of the course.

From US 280 in Alexander City turn west on Elkahatchee Road (land mark- Russell Outlet Store), go a couple hundred yards west and turn right onto Sportsplex Road (land mark-Sportsplex Monument in road), go approximately one quarter mile and take first left onto Arena Road, the Old Senior Citizens Cabin is on the right.

April 16-19, 2008 Alabama Wildland Fire Academy, Fort McClellan in Anniston.

Special Landowner Support Under the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)

If a forest landowner has signed up for NRCS prescribed burning support and is willing to receive training to become a Certified Burn Manager the landowner may be eligible to "sign up" to receive a one-time payment of $375 upon providing proof of certification. This is a grant to cover registration, transportation and lodging during the course. Detailed information may be obtained from county NRCS offices.

Alabama Certified Burn Manager Continuing Education Workshops

All workshops are 1 day - 6 contact hours, designed to satisfy the Alabama Certified Burn Manager continuing education requirement for re-certification; 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
