Alabama Bulletin No. AL250-7-11

Date:  August 17, 2007

Subject:  FNM - Authorization to Attend the Erosion and Sediment Control Field Days (Red Water Blues 2007), August 17, 2007

Purpose:   To notify Alabama NRCS employees of attendance and approval requirements.

Expiration Date: September 30, 2007.

Registration Deadline:  Friday before each Field Day.

NRCS employees in counties with urban expansion and construction activities as well as new NRCS employees are encouraged to attend one of the upcoming Erosion and Sediment Control Field Days (Red Water Blues 2007). All offices should have received fliers on these activities. Field Days are planned for the following dates and locations:

Date Location
September 6, 2007 Cullman
September 13, 2007 Prattville
September 27, 2007 Daphne

The Field Days will provide training on the proper use of BMP’s for erosion and sediment control as well as provide information and demonstration on new technologies. Participants will be able to learn about BMP’s by viewing the demonstrations and interacting with resource persons who will be available on site.

The event brochure and registration form are posted on the Alabama Soil and Water Conservation Society (SWCD) website. NRCS employees will only be reimbursed for the pre-registration fee of $40 which is due by Friday before each Field Day. Reimbursement will be accomplished by completing a SF1164 form. No travel expenses are anticipated. Anyone requiring overnight travel should get approval from their supervisor. NRCS employees who plan to attend should receive approval from their supervisor and/or ASTC (FO) prior to registration.

For reimbursement, attach a copy of the receipt of the registration fee to the SF1164 form AFTER you have attended the field day, sign the form, and send it to the clerical staff that normally processes travel vouchers. Reimbursement will be made to your paycheck destination.

All NRCS employees are also encouraged to assist their local SWCD with the promotion of the Field Days. This is a great opportunity for SWCD’s and NRCS to help county and city governments make a positive impact on local erosion and sediment control efforts. The success of the field days depends to a large extent upon the NRCS and the local SWCD working together to promote attendance.
