Alabama Bulletin No. AL340-7-14

Date:
  June 18, 2007

Subject:  SPA – National Program Codes

Purpose:  To provide guidance on National Program Codes.

Expiration Date:  June 17, 2008.

Fiscal Year 2007 Performance Results System (PRS) reports show an increasing number of practice records with an erroneous CTA program designation. CTA-GLC should be used when reporting grazing land use (grazed range, grazed forest, native/naturalized pasture, and pasture). All other non-grazing land use should be reported using CTA-General. Field office personnel should use caution when linking program codes to land use because this significantly affects the Agency’s ability to accurately report performance.

Programmers at Fort Collins have corrected the errors in the National Conservation Planning Database. No performance has been lost; however, progress has been moved to other programs based on land use. No additional action is required at the field office level. The changes will affect progress for the following performance measures:

  • 1.10 - Cropland with conservation applied to improve soil quality (Ac.)
  • 2.10 - Land with conservation applied to improve water quality (Ac.)
  • 2.20 - Land with conservation applied to improve irrigation efficiency (Ac.)
  • 3.10 - Grazing and forest land with conservation applied to protect and improve the resource base (Ac.)
  • 3.20 - Non-federal land with conservation applied to improve fish and wildlife habitat quality (Ac.)
