Subject:  SPA - Performance Goals

Purpose:  To provide guidance on Performance Goals.

Expiration Date:  October 30, 2007.

The Fiscal Year (FY) 2007 Initial Performance Goals for Alabama are pending approval by national headquarters and are located on the Alabama NRCS website. Reporting of performance in FY-07 is very similar to the processes followed in FY-06. Employees will report progress by program for each performance measure. If the program goal is not met for one of the performance indicators, the agency considers the target not met.

For example, the overall goal for Conservation Plans Written is 157,250 acres. This is broken down by program area as shown below. Before the goal is considered attained, we must plan 105,400 acres of cropland under CTA-GENRL and 51,850 acres of grazing land under CTA-GLC.

If we plan 157,250 acres under CTA-GENRL and 0 under CTA-GLC, the goal has not been achieved.

The 2007 Initial Performance Goals have been posted to the Alabama Home Page at http://www.al.nrcs.usda.gov  under: "Quick Access" then "• Accountability."

PRS Report 6.4 provides a detailed Summary of Performance by Program.
