Alabama Bulletin No. AL250-8-11 Subject: FNM – Authorization to Attend the Erosion and Sediment Control Field Days "Clear Water Alabama" (Formerly Red Water Blues), Bessemer Civic Center, September 17-18, 2008 Purpose: To notify Alabama NRCS employees of attendance and approval requirements. Expiration Date: September 30, 2008 Action Required By: Pre-Registration Deadline: Friday, September 12, 2008. NRCS employees in counties with urban expansion and construction activities as well as new NRCS employees are encouraged to attend the upcoming Erosion and Sediment Control Field Days (Clear Water Alabama). Only employees who can obtain professional development points will be reimbursed for attendance. All offices should have received fliers on this activity. This year’s event will be two days. The first day will be a seminar training session and the second will be the conventional field day. The event brochure and registration form are posted on the Alabama Soil and Water Conservation Committee's (SWCC) website. NRCS employees will only be reimbursed for the pre-registration fee of $150 which is due by September 12, 2008. Reimbursement will be accomplished by completing a Standard Form-1164. No travel expenses are anticipated for those within commuting distance to Bessemer. Anyone requiring overnight travel should get approval from their supervisor. NRCS employees who plan to attend should receive approval from their supervisor and/or ASTC-FO prior to registration. For reimbursement, attach a copy of the receipt of the registration fee to the SF-1164 form AFTER you have attended the field day, sign the form, and send it to the clerical staff person who normally processes travel vouchers. Reimbursement will be made to your paycheck destination. All NRCS employees are also encouraged to assist their local Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) to promote the field day. This is a great opportunity for SWCDs and NRCS to help county and city governments make a positive impact on local erosion and sediment control efforts. The success of the field day depends to a large extent on NRCS and the local SWCD working together to promote attendance. /s/ GARY KOBYLSKI Enclosure: SF-1164
