NRCS Retiree Norton Receives Fellow Award from SWCS

Earl Norton receives SWCS Fellow AwardAuburn, Ala, August 15, 2005

 

Earl Norton, a life-long conservationist, is the recipient of the 2005 Fellow Award presented by the Soil and Water Conservation Society (SWCS) at their annual meeting in Rochester, New York. 

SWCS, founded in 1943, is a nonprofit scientific organization that works to improve the use of the land while sustaining its productivity and enhancing the environment. The Fellow Award recognizes Society members who have performed exceptional service in advocating the conservation of soil, water, and related natural resources.

Norton is retired NRCS State Resource Conservationist. Throughout his 35 year career with NRCS, Norton contributed significantly to the efforts of the agency at the state and national levels. Since his retirement, he continues to work for the protection of soil and water resources through involvement with the International Erosion Control Association, the Alabama Chapter of SWCS, and the Alabama Soil and Water Conservation Committee.  Norton continues to extol his passion of conservation and uses his gift of working with people in a tireless effort to inform and enlighten others about the importance of protecting our natural resources.
