"Red
Water Blues" Field Days
"Red Water Blues"; field days demonstrating erosion and sediment control
practices will be held as part of the Alabama State Soil and Water Conservation
Committee’s educational program for those who work in land-disturbing
construction activities. Best management practices (BMPs) and new
technology will be demonstrated. Participants can learn about BMPs by
viewing the demonstrations and interacting with resource persons who will be
available on site. In addition, individuals with current Qualified
Credential Inspector (QCI) certification can complete the mandatory 4-hour
continuing education requirement.
Erosion
and sediment control during construction of commercial sites, subdivisions, and
roads is important in reducing construction costs and in keeping our streams and
lakes clean. Therefore, the training will be beneficial to an array of
individuals that plan, install, maintain, and inspect BMPs. Erosion control/stormwater
planners, designers, contractors, and inspectors of BMPs from throughout the
state are encouraged to attend. Other individuals with a vested interest in
erosion and sediment control, such as city, county, and state officials are
welcome.
Cost of
the field day, which includes lunch, is $15 in advance or $20 on site. QCI
fee for continuing education training and field day is $110 and includes lunch.
Pre-registration is encouraged to help the sponsors plan for transportation and
meals.
