FY 2006 Whip Applications Being Taken

NRCS IS ACCEPTING WHIP APPLICATIONS

Auburn, Ala – (date) – The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is now taking applications for forestry and wildlife habitat improvement practices under the Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP) and the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). These programs provide cost-share assistance for installation of wildlife habitat enhancement practices on private lands. Practices include such things as tree planting, prescribed burning, native grass planting and creating wildlife openings. Applications received by November 17th will be considered for funding this year. Applications received after that date may not be considered until next year, so sign up as soon as possible.
