The Lauderdale County NRCS and Soil and Water Conservation District personnel presented a station on soils at the annual FAWN (Forestry Awareness Now) program at Joe Wheeler State Park in East Lauderdale County.

Local county school children learned about how soil is formed, what causes erosion, and how we can help prevent erosion.

The two-day event had seven different stations that helped educate the children on various different environmental issues such as tree identification, soils, and history.

Everyone enjoyed being outside at the park and learning about our everyday surroundings and how to conserve our natural resources.
