Alabama Delegates Present at SECDEA Annual Meeting

Submitted by Kathy Walker, Madison County DAC, Huntsville, AL

Kathy Walker at the SECDEA meeting.Alabama had a great representation of delegates at the Southeast District Employees Association (SECDEA) annual meeting in November in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Madison County DAC Kathy Walker, who is the Alabama Conservation District Employees Association (ACDEA) Education Committee Chairperson, shared one of her newest conservation education programs at the share-fair portion of the meeting.

As Kathy read the story "Pass the Energy Please," the Alabama delegation acted it out using puppets. The selection was from a book Learning Can Be Fun that is written by Barbara Shaw McKinney and published by Dawn Publications.

An excerpt from the book reads, "Everyone is somebody’s lunch. Each of natures creatures "passes the energy" in its own unique way. In this upbeat, rhyming story, the food chain connects herbivores, carnivores, insects and plants together in a fascinating circle of players."
