2009 Lauderdale County Beef Field Day

The Lauderdale County Cattleman’s Association hosted the annual beef field day on Saturday April 25th at Greg Hamner’s farm in East Lauderdale County. NRCS District Conservationist Renea Dyer was on hand to discuss NRCS's EQIP program with local producers including the new Organic Farming Initiative.  She also answered questions about rotational grazing, pasture planting, watering systems, and streambank stabilizations.

The host of the event, Greg Hamner, is a graduate of Auburn University and is part owner in the seed company, Seed Farms. The event was held in his newly built hay storage barn.

Other speakers included the Regional Extension Agent, Gerry Thompson; Joe Dickerson from Alabama Department of Ag and Industries; and Amy Winstead and Randall Armstrong from Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES).
