Washington County Annual Tree Giveaway

In February the Washington County SWCD/NRCS teamed with the Alabama Forestry Commission for the annual tree giveaway that is held each year in Chatom, Alabama.

Among the trees given away were the American Beauty Berry, Crapemyrtle, Red Maple, River Birch, Sawtooth Oak, Shumard Oak, Water Oak, Willow Oak, and Cherrybark Oak.

Over one hundred citizens received the more than two thousand trees that were given away.

Assisting members of the Alabama Forestry Commission were Jon Gunter, Ken Leslie, Tim Stokley, and Roy Thornton.

Washington County SWCD DAC Michelle Floyd and TREASURE Forest member Jerry Gibson assisted with the event.

Overall the day was a great success.  We are looking forward to continuing to "Help People, Help the Land."
