Installation of Residential Septic System in Lowndes County
Mr. & Mrs. Odell McMeans of
Lowndes County,
Alabama, were sited by a local judge for a malfunctioning residential septic
system and given an order to correct their problem or go to jail.
Septic tanks
are extremely difficult to install for poor families in the Black Belt Soil
Section of Alabama, due to heavy clay soils and the cost of installing
alternative systems.
Alabama Chapter of the NOPBNRCSE gave a $1,000
grant to help install an onsite sewage system for the McMeans family.
