The 35th Anniversary Celebration and Tribute Dinner sponsored by the Federation of Southern Cooperative/Land Assistance Fund was held at the Sheraton Birmingham Hotel on August 15, 2002. Danny Glover was the keynote speaker for the occasion. The National Organization of Professional Black Natural Resources Conservation Service Employees (NOPBNRCSE) was a patron for the banquet. As a patron, the Organization donated $2,500 and was entitled to a table for ten guests. Our National President Bill Hunt felt so strongly about the event, he personally donated $100 to the cause.  The National Office donated $400, and each Chapter, including the NRCS Alabama Chapter, donated $100. Additionally, the NRCS Southeast Regional Office donated $2,500 for a patron table. The NRCS Southeast Regional Conservationist Charles Adams, his staff, and other Georgia employees attended the dinner.

Those attending from the Alabama Chapter of NOPBNRCSE were Ben Malone, Andrew Williams, Anthony Hudson, Johnny Trayvick, and other Alabama NRCS employees. Ben Malone and Johnny Trayvick set up a display on the Farm Bill.  They entertained questions and distributed information about the Farm Bill programs.

The Alabama Chapter of the NOPBNRCSE would like to thank our National Organization President Bill Hunt and our NRCS Southeast Regional Conservationist Charles Adams for their vision and leadership.
