Baldwin County 2004 EQIP Program
Executive Summary
The Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) is designed to provide
technical and financial assistance to correct or improve resource concerns or
problems on cropland, pastureland, hay land, and woodland. The EQIP sign-up for
2004 is open and sign-up is continuous.
Applications for EQIP in Baldwin County may be made at the Natural Resources
Conservation Service (NRCS) office or the Farm Service Agency (FSA) office
between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. The offices are
located at 1504-C Highway 31 South in the USDA Service Center, Bay Minette,
Alabama. The NRCS office telephone number is (251) 937-3297 ext.3. The FSA
office telephone number is (251) 937-3297 ext.2.
The first batching period for ranking and prioritizing applications will be
on April 16th at 4:00 p.m. If you file an application later than the deadline
for the first funding pool consideration, your application will be considered in
the next pool of funding if additional funding is available at a later date.
The local concerns that have been prioritized are:
Grazing Lands (a
minimum of $80,000 of allocation)*
Erosion/Soil Quality
(a minimum of $120,000 of allocation)*
Water Quality (a
minimum of $10,000 of allocation)*
At Risk Species (a
minimum of $5,760 of allocation)*
All applications will be ranked and approvals based on an environmental
ranking worksheet that will insure that the most environmental benefits are
received for the dollars expended. Individuals with the highest point totals
generated from this worksheet will be ranked higher in consideration to receive
cost share assistance than those individuals with lower points. Applicants will
declare which concern he is applying for, with funding to be drawn from that
concern.
*After funding highest ranking applicants and money still remaining in a
concern, monies from all concerns will be pooled and next applicant with the
highest point total from ranking sheet will be funded (concern not considered).
Limited Resource Farmers may be eligible to receive up to 90 per cent
cost-share.
Cost-share for Residue Management (conservation tillage) will be limited to
100 acres per applicant per year.
