Chilton County 2004 EQIP Program
Executive Summary
The local EQIP program signup for 2004 is open and signup is continuous.
Landowners needing assistance with resource concerns or problems on pastureland,
hayland or croplands need to come by the Natural Resources Conservation Service
(NRCS) office and fill out an application. You can file this application at the
USDA Service Center in Clanton in the NRCS office or the FSA office between the
hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The USDA Service Center
is located at 731 Logan Road in Clanton. Our telephone number is 205-755-0210
extension 3. The first batching period for ranking and prioritizing
applications will be April 16, 2004.
The local concerns that have been prioritized are:
- Animals/Grazing Systems/Animal Waste
- Water Quality/Nutrient Management
- Soil Quality/Erosion
- At Risk Species Habitat
All applications will be ranked and approvals based on an environmental
ranking worksheet that will insure that the most environmental benefit is
received for the dollars expended. Individuals with the highest point totals
generated from this worksheet will be ranked higher in consideration to receive
cost share assistance than those individuals with lower points. In case of a tie
between two resource concerns the listing above will determine funding with
Animals/Grazing Systems receiving higher consideration than Water Quality, and
so on. In case of a tie within the same resource concern the application with
the least money required to fund the application will be funded first.
Please refer to the state list for practices, cost-share rates, and
restrictions.
Applications may also be taken on-line at: http://www.sc.egov.usda.gov. Additional
information is available at: http://www.nrcs.usda.gov/programs/eqip/.
