Crenshaw County 2004 EQIP Program
Executive Summary
The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) of USDA in Crenshaw County,
Alabama, will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program
(EQIP) for the 2004 Fiscal Year. This signup will be held on a continuous basis.
Any eligible landuser who has a resource concern or problem on pastureland,
cropland, or hayland may apply for assistance through this program. Applications
may be made at either the NRCS office or the FSA office of the Crenshaw County
USDA Service Center located at 1682 or 1686 South Forest Avenue on Monday
through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The telephone number is 334-335-3613,
Ext. 3, or 334-335-6507, Ext. 2. The fax number is 334-335-2108.
The USDA Work Group has identified the Crenshaw County resource concerns and
funds allocated to each category as:
- Water Quality/Animal Waste (60%)
- Grazings Lands (21%)
- Soil Erosion (19%)
All applications will be ranked using the Statewide Ranking Tool. The
landowner will declare his top priority if he has multiple resource concerns.
Approvals will be given to those applications that will provide the greatest
environmental benefits, i.e. those receiving the most environmental points.
Contracts will be developed for approved applications in order of descending
environmental points until all funds are obligated. Applications will be
"batched" and ranked. The first batching period for ranking and
prioritizing applications will be April 16, 2004. Additional batching periods
will be every 30 days (or other increment of time) thereafter, if additional
funds become available.
