Dallas County 2004 EQIP Program

Executive Summary

The local EQIP program signup for 2004 is open and signup is continuous. If you have a resource concern or problem on pastureland, cropland, or hayland on your farm that you need assistance to solve, you should come by the NRCS Office and fill out an application. You can file this application in Selma at the Natural Resources Conservation Service Office or the Farm Service Agency office between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office is located at 105 Samuel Moseley Dr. Suite A. and our telephone number is 334-872-2611 extension 3.

Applications will be taken through April 16, 2004, and be ranked using the state approved ranking sheets. Any funds not allocated during the first batching period which ends on April 16, 2004, will be available for subsequent batching periods on 30 day intervals.

The local concerns that have been prioritized are:

  1. Animals/Grazing Systems

  2. Soil Quality/ Erosion on Cropland

  3. Water Quality/Animal Waste

  4. At Risk Species Habitat

  5. Water Conservation

All applications will be ranked and approvals based on an environmental ranking worksheet that will insure that the most environmental benefit is received for the dollars expended. Individuals with the highest point totals generated from this worksheet will be ranked higher in consideration to receive cost-share assistance than those individuals with lower points.

Eligible practices, cost-share rates, and restrictions can be found on the Statewide Practice List. Planned conservation practices used to address the priority resource concerns will come from this list. Conservation practice 329-Residue Management has a limit of 200 acres per applicant per year. Cost-share rates on all other practices will be the same as listed in the State-approved list. The state-wide ranking sheet for the above listed resource concerns will be used in ranking the applications.

Applications may also be taken on-line at: http://www.sc.egov.usda.gov. Additional information is available at: http://www.nrcs.usda.gov/programs/eqip/.
