Henry County 2004 EQIP Program


Executive Summary

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) of USDA in Henry County, Alabama, will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for the 2004 Fiscal Year. This signup will be held on a continuous basis. Applications may be made at the NRCS Abbeville Field Offices located at the USDA Service Center at 810-B Columbia Road, Abbeville, Alabama 36310. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The telephone number for NRCS is (334) 585-3174 Ext. 3. The fax number is (334) 585-6361.

The Local Work Group has identified the resource concerns for Henry County in order of priority as:

  1. Erosion/Soil Quality
  2. Grazing Lands

State Resource Concerns (Special Projects for Alabama)

  1. Poultry Litter Distribution
  2. Ground and Surface Water Conservation
  3. Pest Management (Invasive Plant Species)

All applications will be ranked using the Statewide EQIP Ranking Sheet, with the exception of the Poultry Litter Distribution Special Project, which is offered first come, first serve. Approvals will be given to those applications that will provide the greatest environmental benefits, i.e. those receiving the most environmental points. Contracts will be developed for approved applications in order of descending environmental points until all funds are obligated. The first batching period for ranking and prioritizing applications will be April 16, 2004.
