The local EQIP program signup for 2004 is open and signup is continuous. If
you have a resource concern or problem on Cropland, Pastureland, and Hayland on
your farm that you need assistance to solve, you should come by the Natural
Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Office and fill out an application. You
can file this application in Mobile at the NRCS Office between the hours of 7:30
a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office is located at 1070
Schillinger Road, North and our telephone number is (251) 441-6505. You can also
file this application in Bay Minette at the Farm Services Agency (FSA) between
the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The FSA office is
located at 1504-A Highway 31, South and their telephone number is (251)
937-3297. The first batching period for ranking and prioritizing applications
will be 4:00 pm on April 16, 2004, and additional batching periods will be every
30 days thereafter. Resource concerns for Mobile County have been prioritized.
The prioritized resource concerns for Mobile County are as follows:
1. Erosion/Soil Quality
2. Grazing Lands
3. Water Conservation
4. Animal Waste
There will be a restriction of 150 acres per tract that can be enrolled under
conservation tillage (Erosion/Soil Quality).
Limited Resource Farmers may be eligible to receive up to 90 percent
cost-share.
All applications will be ranked and approvals based on an environmental
ranking worksheet that will insure that the most environmental benefit is
received for the dollars expended. Individuals with the highest point totals
generated from this worksheet will be ranked higher in consideration to receive
cost share assistance than those individuals with lower points. In case of a tie
between ranking sheets, the tiebreaker will be based upon the following criteria
in consecutive order.
1. Limited Resource Farmers
2. Least amount of funding that will ensure the most environmental benefit
3. Priority areas in the Mobile County Conservation Needs Assessment
4. Most Highly Erodible Land (HEL) acreage treated
Below is the Mobile County eligible cost-share
practices. The cost-share percentages for Mobile County will be the same
as the NRCS State percentages.
