Montgomery County 2004 EQIP
Program
Executive Summary
The Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) of USDA in Montgomery
County, Alabama, will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentives
Program (EQIP) for 2004. This signup will be held on a continuous basis. Any
eligible landuser who has a resource concern or problem on pastureland,
cropland, or hayland may apply for assistance through this program. Applications
may be made at the NRCS office of the Montgomery County USDA Service Center
located at 2000 Interstate Park Drive, Suite 101, Montgomery, Alabama 36109,
Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The telephone number is
(334) 223-7257. Fax number is (334)-223-7458. Applications may also be taken at
the FSA office in USDA Service Center in Wetumpka, located at 105 Gossom Switch
Road.
The USDA work group has prioritized the resource concerns in Montgomery
County as:
- Grazing Land
- Erosion/Soil Quality and Water Quality/Animal Waste
- Water Conservation
- At-risk species
All applications will be ranked using the state-wide environmental benefits
worksheet. Approvals will be given to those applications that will provide the
greatest environmental benefits, i.e. those receiving the most environmental
points. Contracts will be developed for approved applications in order of
descending environmental points, until all funds are obligated. Applications
will be “batched” and rank after April 30, 2004. Any applications filed
later than this date will be considered in the next pool of funding (if
additional funds become available).
