Autauga County 2008 EQIP Program

Executive Summary

The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Autauga County, Alabama, announces that the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) sign-up for the 2008 Fiscal Year is open and applications are being taken on a continuous basis.

If you have a resource concern or problem on pastureland, cropland, hayland, or forestland on your farm that you need assistance in treating, visit the local NRCS Office and make an application. Appointments are encouraged.

Applications will be taken at the following Autauga County location:

Autaugaville Ag-Center
2226 Hwy 14 West, Suite A & Suite C
Autaugaville, Al 36003
Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Phone: 334-365-5124, extension 101
Contact:  District Conservationist John Harris

Applications taken through October 26, 2007, will be ranked using the state approved ranking sheets. Any funds not allocated during the first batching period (Oct. 26th) will be available for subsequent batching periods as needed. Applicants that have or had existing contracts with delinquent practices or eligibility issues will be considered the lowest priority for funding. Limited Resource Farmers may be eligible to receive higher payment rates.

The Autauga County resource priorities are as follows:

  1. Erosion Cropland/Soil Quality
  2. Woodland/Forestry and Wildlife
  3. Grazing Lands
  4. Water Quality

All applications will be ranked and approved based on an environmental ranking worksheet that will insure the most environmental benefit is received for the program dollar expended. Individuals with the highest point totals generated from this worksheet will be ranked higher in consideration to receive assistance than those individuals with lower points.

In the event of a tie between applications, the application with the lowest cost for benefits obtained will be considered for assistance. Secondary ties will be ranked and awarded using the Autauga County priority list as shown above.

All conservation practices in the Alabama NRCS EQIP Practice and payment Schedule will be available for use in solving the conservation needs on the farm. Cost-share rates on all other practices will be the same as listed in the NRCS State approved list. The state-wide ranking sheet for the above listed resource concerns will be used in ranking the applications.
