| Baldwin County 2008 EQIP ProgramExecutive SummaryThe USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Baldwin County, Alabama, announces that the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) sign-up for FY 2008 is open and applications are being taken on a continuous basis. EQIP is designed to provide technical and financial assistance to correct or improve resource concerns or problems on cropland, pastureland, hay land, and woodland. Applications for EQIP in Baldwin County may be made at the NRCS/SWCD office located at: USDA Service Center The first batching period for ranking and prioritizing applications for local concerns will be on October 26, 2007, at 4:00 p.m. If you file an application later than the deadline for the first funding pool consideration, your application will be considered in the next pool of funding if additional funding is available at a later date. All applications will be ranked and approvals based on an environmental ranking worksheet that will insure that the most environmental benefits are received for the dollars expended. Individuals with the highest point totals generated from this worksheet will be ranked higher in consideration to receive cost share assistance than those individuals with lower points. Applicants will declare which concern he is applying for. Limited Resource Farmers may be eligible to receive a higher cost-share rate. The first batching period for Limited Resource Farmers will be October 26, 2007. Cost-share for Residue Management (conservation tillage) will be limited to 100 acres per applicant per year for three years. Only acreage with 50% or 75% residue after planting will be eligible. Persons already having approved systems of residue at these levels or have received EQIP payment for these residue levels are not eligible. All conservation practices and cost-share rates will be the same as in the Alabama NRCS state approved EQIP Practice and Payment Schedule. In case of tie on ranking sheet: 1) treated acres with the most highly erodible land (HEL), and second tie breaker, 2) earliest sign-up.
