| Calhoun County 2008 EQIP ProgramExecutive SummaryThe USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Calhoun County, Alabama, will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for the 2008 Fiscal Year. This signup will be held on a continuous basis. All applications received up to October 26, 2007 will be considered for funding in the first batching period of the program. Any eligible land user who has a resource concern or problem on pastureland, cropland, forestland/wildlife land or hay land may apply for assistance through this program. Applications may be made at NRCS in the Calhoun County USDA Service Center located at 1413B Hillyer-Robinson Pkwy, Anniston, Alabama 36207, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The telephone number is 256-835-0512, extension 3. Incentive payments for residue management is limited to 100 acres per operator/person. All applications will be ranked using the state-wide Ranking Worksheet. Approvals will be given to those applications that will provide the greatest environmental benefits, i.e. those receiving the most environmental points. Contracts will be developed for approved applications in order of descending environmental points, until all funds are obligated. Applications will be batched on October 26, 2007, and ranked. Any applications filed later than this date will be considered in the next pool of funding (if additional funds become available. Calhoun County will use the Alabama NRCS state approved EQIP Practice and Payment Schedule. Limited resource farmers will be paid at an increased payment rate.
