| Coffee County 2008 EQIP ProgramExecutive SummaryThe USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Coffee County, Alabama, will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for the 2008 fiscal year. This signup will be held on a continuous basis. Landowners/land users who have concerns relating to Soil Erosion/Soil Quality, Grazing Land, Water Quality and Animal Waste, and Forestry Health and Wildlife may apply. Applications may be made at the NRCS office of the Coffee County USDA Service Center located in New Brockton. The mailing address for NRCS is 3 Coffee County Office Complex, New Brockton, Alabama 36351. Applications will be accepted Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office may be reached by telephone at 334-894-5581, extension 3; fax number is 334-894-2081. Applications will be batched and ranked using the Statewide EQIP Ranking Tool. The first batching period for ranking and prioritizing applications will be October 26, 2007. Any applications filed later than October 26, 2007, will be considered at the next batching date, dependent upon availability of funds. Approvals will be given to those applications that will provide the greatest environmental benefits, i.e., those receiving the most environmental points. Contracts will be developed for approved applications in order of descending environmental points until all funds are obligated. Eligible practices are listed below. Cost-share rates for eligible practices will be the same as those identified in the Alabama NRCS state approved EQIP Practice and Payment Schedule. Limited resource farmers will be paid at an increased payment rate.
