Dale County 2008 EQIP Program

Executive Summary

The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Dale County, Alabama, will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for the 2008 fiscal year. This signup will be held on a continuous basis.

Any eligible landuser who has a resource concern or problem on pastureland, cropland, hayland or forestland may apply for assistance through this program.

Applications may be made at the NRCS office of the Dale County USDA Service Center located at the Dale County Government Building, 202 S. Hwy 123, Suite E, Ozark, Alabama 36360, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The telephone number is 334-774-4749, extension 3. Fax number is 334-774-9951. The USDA Work Group has identified the resource concerns in Dale County as:

  1. Erosion/Soil Quality
  2. Forest Health and Wildlife
  3. Grazingland /Animal Waste

County-wide applications taken by October 26, 2007, will be ranked and funded using the NRCS Statewide Ranking Tool and approvals will be given to those applications that will provide the greatest environmental benefits, i.e. those receiving the most environmental points. Contracts will be developed for approved applications in order of descending environmental points until all funds are obligated. Applications received after October 26, will be deferred until the next subsequent batching period as needed.

Dale County will use the Alabama NRCS state approved EQIP Practice and Payment Schedule. Limited Resource Farmers will be paid at an increased payment rate. Conservation practices used to address the priority concerns will come from the following practice list:

328 Conservation Crop Rotation
342 Critical Area Planting
512 Pasture and Hayland Planting
595 Pest Management
645 Upland Wildlife Habitat Management
